Art
We have a dedicated Creativity Centre set in our tranquil meadow, which hosts the specialist music room and art room.
During weekly art lessons rich links are made to the children’s topic learning, and work is created using a range of media and drawing in turn on the work of different artists and movements. We also have links with external arts organisations (we have worked with Art Hoppers, Bow Arts and the LSO) who run large scale creative projects with children from across the school. In addition to this we have some very talented teachers of our own, who have led on projects such as our brilliant mural currently outside the New Hall. This year we also have a brand new kiln: each class will work with our specialist art teacher on a ceramics project during the course of the school year.
We are currently working on regaining our Artsmark status within Artsmark’s renewed framework. As well as linking art with other curriculum areas, many opportunities are created for sharing and creativity for all children- some of these are summarised in the linked document below.
