02 Oct Home Culture Dress Up Day
On Friday children came to school dressed in an wonderful array of clothes, choosing items and outfits that represented their home culture. It was a fantastic celebration of the diversity of Jubilee, and provoked so many fascinating conversations between children and adults. Traditional dress, flags, sports kits and more were all on display and it was joyous. We saw Ghana, Australia, Poland, Lithuania, Guyana, England, Switzerland, Columbia, South Africa, Italy, Trinidad, Ireland, Wales, Jamaica and many many more countries and cultures represented. Thank you so much to parents who supported their children with outfits (we know it’s a challenge sometimes!); it was exactly what we all needed to brighten up a very rainy and blustery Friday!
This was in place of our usual International Welcome Event where we love to share food across our community, but families have also been using Google Classroom to share recipes and other traditions so thank you again for support at home with this. We look forward to being able to welcome everyone back into the school building again soon.
