09 Dec Year 6 trip to British Museum
Year 6 enjoyed a great trip to the British Museum yesterday. They explored a range of galleries but focused on the Benin bronzes, which they have been learning about in Art and History lessons this half-term. They looked for different examples of different animals important in the Kingdom of Benin, including leopards and crocodiles. They showed off their fantastic knowledge during a presentation by a British Museum expert who was very impressed with everthing they have learned. In school we have also been debating the contested nature of the bronzes and the ongoing discussions about whether they and other treasures in the British Museum should be returned to the countries they were made.
